1934 ALEXANDER I ROYALTY POST-MORTEM FUNERAL REAL PHOTO
Ladies and Gentlemen, we are pleased to offer this week, from an outstanding private collection, ultra rare collection of Prince Alexander I Karadjorjevic of Yugoslavia Royalty Real Photos collection, photographs taken by Journalist Leon Jarumski shortly after the assasination of Alexander I Karadjorjevic on Tuesday 9 October 1934.
Prince Alexander had arrived in Marseille to start a state visit to the Third French Republic. This ultra rare collection consists of 25 (twenty five) real photos. He came in France in order to sign a treaty to strengthen the French and Yugoslavian alliance in the Little Entente.
Alexander I Karadjordjevic and French Foreign Minister Louis Barthou were driven in a car through the streets of Marseille, a gunman member of VMORO Organization Vlado Chernozemski stepped from the street and shot the King and the chauffeur... Shortly after the funeral Yugoslavia had a new king Peter II - son of Alexander I, Peter was only eleven years old, you can see him on the pictures in this auction together with his mother and family in grief.
The funeral was attented by many important names: King Charles II of Romania, Alexander's brother in law, King George of The Hellenes, French president Lebrun, Duke of Kent, Prince Cyrill of Bulgaria, Duke of Spoletto, Duke de Vernier, Marschall Georing and many many important people as you can notice on the real photos here.
